The Baptist Collegiate Ministry at Virginia Tech was looking for a face lift to keep us with the digital trends and meeting the needs of new students. They needed a Content Management System (CMS) to allow their staff members the ability to quickly and easily manage content across the site, which their current site's platform was lacking.
I met with staff members to understand the most important elements of the site that students found useful and find out what would drive them to the site. We uncovered that students generally visit the site to find out about upcoming events and how to get involved.
I partnered with their lead staff members to move all of their content to WordPress, where their team can easily manage themes and content. The recommended theme design incorporated the use of Elementor, for allowing easy page generation and manipulation of content within each page design. Staff member are now able to upload new events, images, and opportunities for students to connect with the BCM at Virginia Tech.
New students are now able to quickly find ways to get involved at the BCM at Virginia Tech by simply visiting the primary CTA, "I'm New Here". This redirects students to a page where they can learn more about who the BCM is, what they're all about, and how they can jump in to join their community of students.
Students can also quickly see what events are coming up right from the Homepage and see when and where it will take place.
Overall, this project was a huge success and students and staff are now able to enjoy the fruits of the relaunch.
